We have had a fun filled adventurous year. The biggest change came with the birth of our son, Josiah Dean Witzel. He came via c-section on October 22. While I had reservations about adding another child to our family, Josiah has been a very easy going baby. He is so happy and has made the transition from one child to two easier then expected. At eight weeks he is sleeping through the night most of the time and happy to just hang out and watch all the happenings in his world.
Our daughter, Zoey was very excited when she found out she was going to have a brother or a sister. At our twenty week ultrasound when we found out we were having a boy she informed us that it was a girl. We were thankful that she had time to adjust to the fact that she would be having a brother. There have been a few challenges for Zoey as she was used to being the only child for so long, but she has adjusted rather well and adores her little brother.
Zoey has been at the Goddard School part-time while I worked for the last couple of years. Well since I would be staying at home once Josiah came we decided to sign her up for preschool this year. It is a Christian preschool and it is wonderful seeing the things that we teach at home being taught at school. She has come home singing songs that I learned when I was young. I was surprised that they are still singing those songs.
Six days after her brother was born, Zoey turned four. She is our little princess. She loves the color pink because “it is a princess color,” dressing up in her fancy play dresses and playing mom. Sometimes I get to be the daughter and other times I get to be the “other” mom. She also loves to play school. Zoey is a wonderful daughter and keeps me busy and on my toes. One of her highlights this year was being one of the flowers girls for Jason’s wedding. She was so excited to get to wear a big puffy dress.
Our family vacation this year included stopping at the wildlife safari in Oregon, being a part of Jason’s wedding (Larry’s nephew), and spending a few days at Crater Lake before coming home. It is always fun seeing family, and the sights at Crater Lake were just awesome. I just love seeing God’s beauty through nature.
Larry is doing well with his business, Narrow Gate Media. This year they expanded their printing services for churches, and in the coming year will be offering new marketing resources like handbills for evangelistic outreach. (Learn more at

This New Year will bring new challenges and excitement and we look forward to seeing how God brings us through each and every adventure.
